Whenever I'm recording in my home studio, I always have to struggle with noise. Even with humbucker-equipped guitars, the noise can sometimes be just a bit too much. I have to fight my house's decrepit electrical system in addition to the unfiltered lights in our music room. It's a real pain. I had tried software solutions and traditional noise-gates and nothing worked. My last-ditch effort was the Decimator Noise Reduction pedal.
Problem. Solved.
Unlike traditional noise gates, the Decimator Pedal allows for natural decay of notes. It removed probably 95% of the noise, which is good enough for me. I never record without it.
Incidentally, it was made by the same folks who made the Rocktron Hush units famous in the 1980's. These guys KNOW noise reduction!
